I put disc brakes on a 71 Nova years ago and had a little interference between the caliper and wheel. I took a grinder to the caliper and removed a very small amount, and all was fine. I drove it several years that way.

One word of caution, I did find that the caliper and/or caliper bracket flexed a tiny bit when brakes were applied, so even with clearance OK under static conditions, it rubbed a tad when braking. I took the grinder and took off a tiny bit more material, and all was good.
