I'm missing 3 of my discs, resulting in pretty much every vehicle ever being uncomfortable, but suprisingly my '66 is pretty tolerable.

I'm about 4/5 or 4/6 drop, 15" tires, trailing arm rear etc. The truck overall rides good, and when I added QA1's to the front it did a lot for the "bounding" over bumps etc that the larger profile tires give. My suggestion is to run the longest travel shock you can fit on your given drop. Also, if your gonna ride around low, cut your bumpstops out and add aftermarket ones.
