I think you have a great looking truck as it is, why not just color sand the hood only and reclear it, or you could sand it down, fix it, and then reshoot the basecoat and then clear it, you could learn body work and probably end up with a nice looking paint job.

How would it look to take it down to the sheet metal in places and do a diesel oil finish? I'm just rattling off ideas here.
