I was lookin into doin this awhile ago and found that to get more then 4 inches of lift in the front without going custom I was going to have to go with an 88 up front crossmember.

I've never seen somebody swap a newer front member under one of these trucks but I'm sure somebody here has tried, and knows if it's possible or what mods need to be done.
And for those of you who think lifted 2wd drives are stupid, try pounding over some washboard or up a rocky fire road at around 60 in a leaf sprung four by, then go get your teeth put back in and jump in the 2wd and I'm sure you'll change your mind. It's about what you want to do with it, not about how it looks.
