Did you use an externally balanced flexplate when you installed your 700R4? The 454 is externally balanced, and will have a weight welded to the flexplate, where most small blocks (except 400) have no weight. I had the same problem as you, only in reverse. When I bought my truck, it had a 454 flexplate used on my 250 straight six. Shook bad. Removed the weight and its fine now.

Did you reuse the flexplate from your small block?
