I don't run brackets in any car or truck and I am not trying to be the fastest truck on earth either.
Personally, as I said I like to go out to the "run what you brung" night and run a vehicle out. I usually find stuff that needs attention and get it sorted out.
I have been curious what the "full metal yellow jacket" truck can do and know that like you, he has an old photo of a truck that he sees as "the goal".
Hope I don't come off as trying to push someone one way or another.
I build motors and love to hear detail about them. I learn from others mistakes and accomplishments both.
