M1 mechanic was a 63E back before the new redesign of the 63 series.
Not only did I sleep in the M88A1, I slept through a 5 mile road march, at which when we got to the new location, they disconnected from the tank they were towing, then pulled up on the spaid and installed the lock out blocks and pulled the deck and then pack out of the tank.
For those not in the know, 5 miles is about a 30 min ride, track vehicles do NOT ride nice, they vibrate like mad. With a tank hooked on the tow bar, 12 MPH is the most you'll do (this was in an A1, not the new A2 hercules). Then when pulling on the spaid, you are at a seriouse incline for 5 min or so, then pulling the deck and pack required another 30 min or so of hyd operations (even more noise added).
I woke up when they shut the engine off.
