The starter being for a 350 is a little vague. With your truck having a manual trans, you must use a starter designed to bolt to the bellhousing as your original one does. While a typical small block starter will certainly bolt up to the 250 I6 block, the problem is with the bellhousing in your truck. It will not allow the later model starter to bolt up. What you can do, is remove the nose from your original starter and bolt it onto the new starter, once the nose from it is removed.
