Re: how to replace the window glass run channel?

1. Aproach the vehicle from it's left side as not to spook it and cause it to fight you.

2. Open the door.

3. Roll down the window.
A. Manual window(I.E. non-electric assist) Firmly but gently grasp the window crank handle and turn it counter-clockwise (Right over left) until the window is retracted safely all the way into the body of the door. Remove the window crank handle taking care not to lose the "OMEGA" shaped spring clip.
B. Power window (electric assist) Insert ignition key into ignition lock cylinder located on the right hand side of the steering column halfway between the steering wheel and the Transmission gear selector lever and turn it to the "IGNITION ON" position by rotating the lock cylinder clock-wise(Left over right) until power is established through out the vehicle. CAUTION!!! DO NOT START THE VEHICLE
Locate the 2 gang window control switch on the inner door panel of the driver's side door and depress the left switch downward until the window is retracted safely all the way into the body of the door.

4. Located on the top edge of the door panel towards the rear of the door is your door lock knob that you will need to remove by twisting it counter-clockwise(Right over left) until it comes off the lock actuator rod. Set this aside as you will be re-installing it later.

5. Remove and save 8-9 retaining screws located in the door panel - 4 across the bottom, one located at the back edge of the door almost level with the arm rest, 2 located in the armrest, and 1-2 located inside the inner door handle recess area.

6. Gently pull out on the lower portion of the door panel and lift straight up. You may have to use a little bit of "gentile persuation" to get the door panel to release from the door at the edge of the window. NOTE... There are a few plastic retainers located on the back side of the panel that will have to be replaced unless you get REALLY lucky and not break them. They can be purchased at any of your better local auto parts stores if needed. Best to take an old one along to match it up

7. Reach up and pinch the window weatherstrip together in the middle of the upper window channel and pull down gently to remove the weatherstrip from the the channel completely. Pull up on the weatherstrip at the back of the door window openingto remove the back edge of the run from the lower channel located inside the door. Repeat this for the front leading edge.

8. The front channel is an integral part of the vent window assembly. To remove it you will need to remove one screw from the top of the door frame, one bolt from just under the vent assembly and one bolt at the bottom of the vent window/channel assembly. Grasp the vent assembly at the top edge and pull it towards the back of the door causing it to tilt. Using a lift and twist motion, remove the assembly from the door.

9. Slide the window forward.

10. Remove the retaining bolts holding the rear channel to the door shell. and remove the rear channel using the same lift and twist method as used on the front. NOTE... this part can be a MAJOR P.I.T.A. and if you have tinted windows, I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND removing the door glass before doing this.

11. Reverse the process to reassemble the door.

12. Invite your friends over to have a beer and admire your work.

Good luck have fun and enjoy.
