From what I have read, GM purchased the shifter from Hurst but used GM plain shifter handles. You can also use a Hurst Super Competition shifter.
You can send your shifter to Hurst for rebuild. Kind of pricey considering that the parts kit is reasonable & the video makes it look easy.

I have found today an wrecker yard that has the transmission with the shifter too but im waiting for them to send me a picture of it ....
