I had a "miss" on my '96. Once, it set a code that said it was No. 4 misfiring. So, did a plug swap. Bought a new fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor.

The problem was that there was a build-up of crap on the fine wire in the MAF sensor. Take some alcohol and dip a Q-Tip in it, then wipe the wire until it is clean. Problem was solved.
