Re: Another thumbs up for Red Head Steering Gears
I 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Red Head steering gear recommendation. Worth every penny. Changed the front crossmember on my '66 C20 with a '79 3/4 ton crossmember and replaced every wear part on it. I put in 2 different rebuilt steering gear units, tried adjusting both of them the correct way and the quick, wrong way. Nothing worked to remove play and the last adjustment made it feel a little dangerous.
Fed up, I bit the bullet and ordered a Red Head steering gear box. Problem solved, feels tight and secure and fully safe for the first time in about 15,000 miles.
