For a 4x4, it may be the simplest route.
But for disc brakes and power steering on a 2wd it's best to use one's original frame.
But yes, it bothers me because those who encourage others to do it aren't giving sound advice.
My 65 is on a 62 gmc frame. I did it after I totaled it in the 80's. I was 18 and didn't know better.
