Being garnet red you might get away with a little more buffing before you notice the metallic screwing up.If you cant get it the way you want it to look just drive it for awhile and someday scuff it off and shoot it with base/clear.If all you have to do is spray over what you have then you could get away with a just a couple of coats of base since it is all one colour now.`The base is almost impossible to screw up and if you do get the clear a little dry you can buff it up without any problems.In the long run B/C pays for itself because you will never repaint because of fading and it makes matching alot easier incase you have to do any touch ups later on.Something to think about anyways
