if you end up going for a used cooler from the junkyard be aware that the plate coolers are almost impossible to get any filings out of, no matter how much you flush them. install a filter in the return line so you don't end up with filings from the scrapyard cooler inside your transmission. change that filter out after a short time of driving and cut the old filter apart to see what you have caught. that will give you a baseline for what was in the cooler when you got it from the yard. another good thing to do would be to check the fluid in the scrapyard trans before you bother taking the cooler. or drop the pan on the scrapyard trans first to be sure.
