no. the problem isnt the weight on the axle or the spring rate, axle hop is exactly what it sounds like. there was a great visual in the movie bullit
see how the axle is moving forward and back? the spring in front of the axle is "wrapping" into an s shape and the wheel is hopping forward.
thats why a moment arm of slapper or traction bars fixes it, the axle starts to wrap and the snubber hits the spring, applying torque through a solid arm instead of the floppy spring.
thats why an overload will work, it leaves less spring length to wrap.
