Re: 5.3 swap

I clamped a straight edge to the bottom of the crossmember at the center. The dimension from the bottom of the crossmember to the centerline of the crank at the front pulley was 11" even.

The face of the block was 1" forward of the centerline of the fartherest forward mounting hole on the frame. (There are three holes on top of the frame for engine mounts, my 283 used the rear two.)

I am locating my 6.0 Litre 1" forward of the 283 to allow a little more clearance at the back of the engine, although it would fit in the same location. The ECE mounts look good but a little pricey. I tried the CPP mounts but I have too many interference problems with them, exhaust manifolds and air conditioning compressor. My engine came with the fancy late model (2005) mounts and I am fabricating perches to be able to use them. I will do a thread on it in a couple of weeks.

Good luck,

TR
