Yes, the flashers used for the hazard lights are heavier duty than a regular turn signal flasher since they are designed to flash all 4 bulbs instead of just 2 at a time. A regular turn signal flasher will work in a pinch, but usually ends up making the lights flash faster than normal.

You'll want to locate the inline fuse as close to the power source as possible. So you'd want it between the fuse box and flasher.
