I did the same thing...

The worst part is that you have to drop the pan at least an inch to get the cover back in place.

I would say make sure you seal those corners (where block, pan and timing cover meet), and I've heard of people using rtv all along the bottom lip of the timing cover. Mine leaks but I only did the corners, next time I'm putting rtv along the bottom as well.
