Re: swapping a 350 for the tired inline 6

What year of truck and which 6 cylinder? If you have a '63-'66 with a 230/250, you don't need to change anything. Just get new motor mounts, bolt them up to the 350 and drop it in. You might be able to remover the mounts themselves from the 6 cyl brackets, but I can't say for certain. If you have a '63-'66 with a 292 6 cyl then you will need at the least a passenger side frame bracket, as the 292's had offset motor mounts. In the '63-'66's the 230/250 6 cyl and the V8's used the same motor mount brackets and in the same location.

If you have a '60-'62 and want to install a V8, you can use the V8 motor mount brackets from either the '63-'66's or the '67-'72's. But you will have to add a filler piece on top of the frame as the '60-'62 frames are shorter in height. The '67-'72 small block brackets would be a closer fit than the '63-'66's

If you have the '63-'66, there is no need to fab a trans crossmember. Just get one from a '63-'87 truck with an auto trans, slide it in the frame, drill some holes, and bolt it in.
