YES what ever you put on there you need to sand it after that "recoat window" which is typically only a few hours. Some will be a number of days, but realistically, it needs a scuff anyway to knock down any dirt specs or stuff like that.
I am with you on the 20 footer, what is funny is most every single non car person thinks my Rambler which is more of a 40 footer is "restored." Drive it with a smile on your face!
