Well.. the cable will screw on. but like every transmission with a cable..
The speedo gear set are for that vehicle it came out of..
Take mine spare 2004r that will get rebuilt. it came out of a 87 monte LS
with a rear gear of 3.23 and had 215/65/15 tires (26" tall)
So, in a vehicle with different rear end gears and /or taller tires.. the speedo will read incorrectly..
The monte SS 83-85 had 3.42 gears and 26" tall tire
The monte SS 86-88 had 3.73 and 26" tall tire
The GN had 3.42 and a 26" tire
the olds 442 had 3.42 iirc.
