I haven't mixed up or sprayed anymore since I last posted. I am happy with how the latex mix sprays out and dampens noise for what it cost. The airspace from the micro balloons would make this stuff great for roof skins and firewalls to minimize heat transfer into the interior. It's much lighter than Dynomat or other stick on sound deadener since it's half air ballons that weigh nearly nothing. That's a huge advantage if you're building a dual purpose track car/daily driver and want to keep weight down as much as possible.
That said, I eventually want to try mixing micro balloons with Kool Seal elastomeric roof coating and see how much better (if any) it is at dampening sound. I would think that the softer coating would absorb vibrations in the metal better and reduce the level of transmitted sound more than latex does.
