The VSS is installed into the transmission case...not anywhere near the tailshaft...but you have bigger challenges ahead of you.

2000 Corvettes use a torque tube drive with the trans mounted directly to the differential unit that is solidly to the rear of the Corvette chassis. The rear end is fully independent, not a live axle as is in a C-10.

Unless you intend to do a major rear chassis rework to install the entire rear axle assembly from a Corvette you would be better to sell the Corvette trans and source a standard rear 2 wheel drive trans like a 4L60e or better still a 4L80e.

Both will require an electronic trans controller.

You could also look at a T700R4 but it should receive a major rebuild and upgrade before you install it...
