I usually recommend the extreme as well, for the same reasons mentioned..... the simpler steering linkage and also that everyone always gets that itch to go lower. Another difference in the touring and the extreme, is the extreme will have a narrower track width of 1.5" per side vs. 0.25" per side on the touring.
