How that truck made it to Georgia is anyone's guess, as that is pretty much a California-mandated system, though by '72 that was pretty prevalent. If you have non-operational equipment and your state doesn't have an inspection requirement for emissions equipment on a vehicle that old, you can toss the whole system. You would have two choices on the exhaust manifolds- replace them with manifolds that don't have the ports in them, or plug the holes with 5/16" inverted flare plug fittings. The Plug fittings will tip off the inspection people (if your state has them) that emissions equipment has been removed. Exhaust manifolds without the tapped holes are readily available.

ETA: Also, you would have to remove the factory stickers concerning the system, because there are instructions on setting the timing that involve the A.I.R. system, which would also let the inspectors know of that removal.
