One of my trucks have the slider window and I must say, I don't even use it! I have never felt that it helped cool the inside. When it's open, I can't even tell.
I'm surprised someone hasn't mentioned this con: Forgetting to close the dang thing! For some reason, the few times I have opened it, it's hard to remember to actually close it again.
