The flexing is less of an issue than the where the individual leafs contact each other. They rub the paint away and then bleed rust over the paint on the edges. You can disassemble the springs and coat them with the grease used on semi truck fifth wheel plates. ( found at truck stops in small bags). This is a water proof extreme pressure grease developed for slow moving surfaces. An other option would be gaiters for you springs. I have had pretty good luck with POR15 but the rust stains will reoccur.
