Probably wasn't a requirement back then in Mexico. My 65 mustang doesn't have backup lights. I think they were optional until 1968 when side turn signals, seat belts, collapsible steering columns, locking seat latches, etc all became mandatory by the feds.

That's also some interesting 67-72 trivia. The 67's had a folding bench seat, but in 68-72 GM didn't want to spend $ on a new latch system to lock the folding seat, so they simply added a screw and made the seat frame rigid. The truck benches didn't fold again until 73 when the trucks & seats were redesigned.
