When I did the a arm swap on my 66 I did 2" springs and 2 1/2" spindles. That was the max I could do with 15" wheels and still had to grind the lowers. I put the studs out of the donor truck for the upper a arm. They are a about 3/4" longer than the stock ones and allow the added shims needed to be put in and should allow for the 3" springs.
