I didn't feel like spending a hundred US dollars for a LED conversion kit like LMC sells for example, or doing it from scratch.
My favourite local auto wrecking yard has tons of parts to turn into LED tail lights. I made my own conversion using a pair of LED arrays from the high-level brake lights from a couple of SUV's. Kia or Hyundai, or some such brand.
