Aside from other factors that may cause dieseling, most (all?) Edelbrock carbs need a fuel regulator as most mechanical pumps will exceed the 4.5-6 PSI that the Eddy's can handle. Here's the setup I use...a Mr Gasket fuel regulator and a VDO fuel pressure gauge (made in the USA and about $20 from Summit, VDO-153002).

The fuel pressure will drop off after sitting a while. I usually wrap the connection at the carb with a shop towel to absorb any fuel and keep it from dripping on the intake.
