Here's a couple of my '62 dash taken during re assembly a couple years back. I went with VDO Cockpit Royale gauges, which I opened up & modified (not an easy thing to do with crimped on bezels I'll tell you
I repainted the stock pointer colour from black to red, also added the GMC logo on the speedometer & covered over the VDO name with "Murphy's" (my nickname) since I modified them anyway
I also went with a painted diamond plate as the gauge support panel and repeated that theme making up a filler panel insert for the glove box. Think it turned out pretty cool!
