I'm not saying don't take it apart and do the sand blasting, sealing to prevent rust and what not. What I am saying is that those plates absolutely have to be there with the fasteners to hold the skin to the brace or your hood spreads apart or comes apart. I doubt one out of 500 guys goes to the trouble to take the hood all apart and clean and seal every component though. Maybe not one in 5000.
