I swapped out my 350 two years ago after trying to replace oil pan and timing cover gaskets on the engine I had in the truck at the time. I also replaced the left outer axle gasket on the front diff. Knowing what I know now I can say it would definitely be easier to drop the diff a little bit to pull the oil pan on a K-truck.
