Re: 72 suburban build

thank you advanced design its been hard at times but its so worth it.

thank you bowtieguy! you should have heard the things that wasnt on the video.

thank you mcbassin you have helped me so much! i will try to get a driving video soon.

wbrown thank you i have been working on it for about 3 to 4 months.

now for some updates. i hit this thing pretty hard this last week and got it to a point i took it on a 2.5 hour one way trip over the weekend and then back home. im happy to report we made it there and back with some issues but all is well.

i had a friend over to help me put the front clip on.

i got a decent little bracket made to hold the ECM in my dash.

its a little tight but i like it there because its out of site and still easy enough to get to.

i got a placement figured out for the OBDII port to be mounted out of site mostly but still usefull.

im ready to do something fun to the motor cover and would love some input, i was thinking orange with the vortec stuff left as is and then white on the raised stripes on top, because the suburban is white and orange. tell me what yall think!

a buddy helped me get my fan relays wired in and the rest of the front end buttoned up. fender wells in bumper on and hood on. while he was doing that i got the dash wired in and pretty much working. that next morning i took it get exhaust.

after taking it for a spin last thursday i came back and found this broken so i had to change it thursday evening at about 10 ha thankfully autozone was open.

this is the dash cluster now. have a few bugs to work out but i dont think it will be to hard to figure out.

the tach isnt working, the gas guage isnt reading right and i had to set the speedo to 4k pulses so it would read the correct speed. i found out real quick that the turn signals are completely different on this digital dash. its a set of green leds in the middle that flash toward the turn signal direction. it also tells you if you have a bulb out, i forgot to hook up the passanger turn signal in the bumper and when the head lights where on it flashed to the right blinker.

i still have a lot to do but its getting there and its driving. on our trip it started missing and cutting out, finally made it to the place and started checking it out. turns out i needed to replace the plugs and wires and a cam sensor. i also found out that i had the drivers bank injectors backwards so i switched them and it immediately sounded better, she smoothed out and had a nice sound out the exhaust. on the way home it started giving me trouble again cutting out. stopped and started messing with wires and it would smooth back out. i did it enough that i found a few wires at the main coil connector plug where the issue. i made sure to push them in really well and it stopped and got us home. i think im going to try to put some dialect grease on it and see if that fixes it.

list of things still to do....
air ride
passenger side mirror
LED tail light panels
front end rebuild kit
add 98 tahoe 3rd brake light
redo the buddy buckets for the front seats
get cruise working

and that should be it. haha for now, i plan on getting a vintage air kit.
