Really it depends on the engine. A 3500 would probably be ok with a stock small block and conservative driving. I have a 4500 with a mild 454 and am still cautious with it. I still think that a 465 is a stronger trans. No proof of that but just a feeling after driving both.

Same here. Sachs. Upon opening the box though, I saw the Valeo stamping on the PP and clutch. Has held up fine with the 396 and now the 454 and has to be going on 5 years or so. Lots of towing 7-8k, once in a while 10k+. I do hammer the throttle occasionally and it has never slipped that I can tell. Way cheaper than a CF.
