I'd stay with the 2 piece as well. Its fairly inexpensive to shorten a shaft compared to building a new one with a diameter to work with that length.

Its also worth noting that with the stock 2 piece, pinion angle shouldn't be a concern. 1 piece will almost certainly need adjustments at the trans and pinion to get DL angles right.
