Re: Better fuel mileage from 87 305 TBI?

Chevy: Glove box sticker won't tell you what you need to know. you need to roll underneath and look at the top of the right side axel tube 4 to 6" away from the pumpkin. You will see a series of numbers and letters. Record this info and head to your local Chevy store and they will decode it for you. If you can't pull up the numbers or the rear has been changed and\or Parts can't find the numbers, you can figure out the ratio yourself. Pop the pumpkin cover and look for stampings on the edge of the ring gear. Someplace in the number strings you will see something like 15:41. Those are the numbers you want. 15= number of teeth on the pinion gear. 41= number of teeth on the ring gear. Devide 41 by 15 and you have the ratio. In this case you come up with 2:73's. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.
