OK, I'm going back 35 years, when I worked as a mechanic. It would be 107º in the shop, and I'd be under the hood revving the engine while doing an AC system recharge. I could feel my lips blistering, and have to back out from under the hood to cool off before diving back in. I'd go to a party, and if the coals had a layer of ash on them, I could move them around to distribute the heat with bare fingers. I could crack (hot, cooked) crab legs barehanded. Crazy, I know. Now, I have to have mitts and tongs to turn the chicken over on the grill!
