That is way to close for a fuel line. I think you have a vapor lock issue and need to work on isolating your fuel system from heat. A spacer under the carb helps. They make one for a quadrajet that is about a 1/4" thick that was a factory part. Been a long time and dont remember the application. I dont like a fuel line any closer than 4 inches from the exhaust and use heat wrap anywhere it is less than that.
