i'll risk pi$$ing some people off here BUT i've been doing exhaust in the same shop over 33 years and have never used gaskets on a small block or big block. i have the manifolds machined flat, clean the head real well and torque them down starting from the middle out and never had a problem unless the head was screwed up. no sealer either.
