And, yes the relays and solenoid help if you have a lot of high amperage items ( electric fans, water pumps, extra lights.) Not sure you need it with a basic system. It does add a little extra to the wiring diagram
. I am a fan of the book "how to wire your hot rod" from speedway motors -about 9 bucks but there may not be much more info than the jegs site had in it.
