I've drilled and tapped the head on 3 or 4 swaps, it isn't hard if you have the correct size drill bit for the tap, and yes, it's a BIG bit. I start with smaller bits and work my way up, putting grease on the bits and tap to catch the shavings. This is a factory '72 sensor in my current 5.3 swap.

Nice. It didn't look like there was much room between the hole and my exhaust manifold.
I think now that my engine is in I'll just tap the block plug. I just need to find a 23/32" bit.
