take the driveshaft out and run it and see if the noise improves. you said the rear axle was pushed back when you got it, that absolutely sounds like the driveshaft crammed into the trans and pushing all the way through to the thrust bearing on the back of the motor. I lowered a toyota years ago and that is what it sounded like when the driveshaft needed shortening. may not be it, but maybe.
