What about the width of the hole and bolt considering the threads?

Should I drill the holes larger so they will take a bolt on which the amount of solid metal going through the holes is closer to the diameter of the original holes and solid metal rivet?

Or would a bolt fitting the existing holes suffice even though the diameter of solid metal would be less due to the threads?

Do you folks always drill a bigger hole rather than use the original hole diameter?
On suspension parts (spring hangers, ect), I like to go a little oversized to get a nice snug fit on a 7/16" bolt. On your app, I think Tex told you straight.....just drop the 3/8" grade 8 bolts in & forget about it crazyAL
