What did you do with the rear shocks after the flip kit install? I made my own flip kit and was trying to decide what to do with them.

The rear shocks that were on the truck when we bought it were bad, and when we flipped the leaf springs we needed shorter shocks, so we set the truck at ride height took the sensitrack shocks off the front of the truck, and fabricated some new shock mounts that hung down and forward about 2-2.5 inches further than the stock shock mounts. That way they werent leaning back at such a flat angle.

We had fender clearance issues with the front tire and wheel combination, so sadly we had to raise the truck up 1" in the front and 2" in the rear. We ended up running the dropped spindals up front with lowering springs, stock shackles in the rear, flipped the leafs, and ended up taking some leafs out of a longbed camper special. They had more of and arch and are a little stiffer. This was all benificial since Im going to be using it as my daily driver. We emded up with a 3"/5" drop and were still able to run the old school wheels with the fat tires. Down the road I may get some wheels custom made and drop it back down, but until then this will do. Also, we put the truck on the chassis dyno and had the tire sizes/shift points/air fuel mix calibrated and ended up with 260hp/300tq at the rear wheels. Plenty of power and very easy to light em up through 2nd/3rd gear. It looks and runs great!

For sure! There's a local guy here in Sacramento that polishes aluminum wheels for cheap. I'm gonna find some center caps and get these bad boys polished up. Then its time for Vintage Air and a bedliner. Should add a final touch to this beast..

LMC makes the bumper you're referring to. However, that bumper wasnt out til 69', therefore mine is correct ;-)

Did your tach work off the data serial wire?
my wiring harness has a white engine speed wire and my 99 z28 cluster has no where for it. Any comments would be appreciated.

Yes, it gets the tach signal from serial data.

Thanks I was stumped on that because I notice my 04 Silverado cluster from the donor truck has a engine speed wire. Did your fuel gage work as well. I got the sending unit off the donor truck and fitted it on my c10 pick up tube...hoping I'm going in the right direction.

The fuel gauge should work, you have two wires from the ecm for it to work though. If I remember correctly.

Hey man, love what you have done to your truck. I especially like the gauges. I would like to do the 5.3 swap in 68 stepside someday put have found junkyard prices all over the place. If you don't mind I would like to find out where you got your engine trans set from.

I'm a mechanic for a trucking co.we had a truck that was stolen and recovered. My company was gonna scrap the truck, so I bought the entire truck for scrap price ($500). It'll be hard to find a deal like that. On Craigslist, I've seen engines and tyranny for about $1500-$2500. Mine is the 4.8 and you can pick up those pretty cheap. It has plenty of power for me driving it everyday.

I didn't think you could buy tyranny on craigslist.
