What year truck do I buy brakes for?
I have a 1961 K20 but it has what I believe are GM 10 bolt rear axles on it. It is a 6 lug truck, and the rear axle says GM28 on it. I just don't know what year the axle came out of which makes it difficult to buy the right parts, so I was hoping you guys would know
Thanks! |

Pull the cover and look for dates. There might be codes on the axle housing too, but only ever did that once. NYS likes to rust everything out so can’t be read.

Can you post a pic? Is it a leaf spring or coil spring axle?

Re: What year truck do I buy brakes for?
if it already has parts on it take them off and bring them to the autoparts store and see if they can id them. i always thought pretty much all the 6 lug gm 10bolt stuff was the same. just go in there and see you need calipers, pads or whatever you need for a 1985 chevy k5 blazer. good as a chance as any
