Plastic or Rubber Gas Pedal?

I installed a plastic pedal on the studs and one of the sockets broke. I notice that there is a plastic and rubber pedal available. Of course, both descriptions say they are correct.

Any ideas on what would be correct, and more importantly in my case, better? Rubber might not break as easily but would it be hard enough to remain on the studs?

The rubber ones are molded around metal. My '68 C/10 from Fremont had the plastic pedal. The hole on one side wore out and would pop off, the pedal would go sideways and jam under the steel ''spoon'' of the accelerator/throttle rod lever. Not good. I tried the rubber one I bought at the Chevy dealers, but it wouldn't play with my aftermarket floor mat. It would also pop.
I removed the pedal altogether and just put the toe of my boot on the Spoon. That worked OK in town, but gave me foot/leg cramps on long runs of over an hour at a stretch. Stiff climbing boots helped.
Eventually -- when the truck had its engine out for a rebuild -- I got serious and modified to a throttle cable system like a '72 Chevy truck.
You may have better luck with the 2 ball studs staying in the gas pedal sockets.

Plastic was OEM. Rubber was OER.

I have a rubber pedal. The first replacement rubber one wore out after about 5 years; the rubber sockets split and would come off the studs often, so I bought a fresh one. I thought about plastic but wanted to re-use the deluxe stainless trim that was on my original pedal. By the time this one wears out I hope to install a 71/72 style pedal via the weld-on method in this other post by CaptRMW.
