94 full size wiper question.
Anyone familer with wiper failures on these.
I am chasing a possible electric problem. Not sure if the wipers are a bad gear box or ground issue. The person who had the truck before me ran a seperate ground from the wiper motor to the core support??????? My isse with the wipers is that they will work a few times, then the get stuck half way across the window. It soounds like a gear is busted. Any help would be great. Thanks |

Re: 94 full size wiper question.
Ya the circuit board that runs the wipers is a common failure part.

Re: 94 full size wiper question.
My 95 S-10 blazer had that failure, buit that caused an intermitant condition. This, the things Start vibrating on the window. I can get out and push them to get them going again.

Re: 94 full size wiper question.
Sounds like the motor is going bad. or the nut backed off the transmission arm.

Re: 94 full size wiper question.
See the recall notice in the link below because your truck may be covered under the recall, and this would make the dealership repair free to you.
There is a good chance the circuit board has cracked solder. I have had good success fixing them with a soldering gun. All the links I had to photos of cracked boards no longer work – photo hosting site issues. This site has a photo that shows the area of the board that has the problem: http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/sh...hp?tid/201653/ S series truck forum, wiper repair post, and the boards crack just like the full size trucks. It also has the wiper recall information - 1994-96 CHEVROLET AND GMC C/K 1995-96 CHEVROLET, GMC, OLDSMOBILE S/T http://forums.s-series.org/viewtopic...48a6b55ca6a191 WEBSHOTs photos of this condition http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1383...26008164PIJTZa http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1383...26008164FjmWOp http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1383...26008164nAyqJd |

Re: 94 full size wiper question.
Well, the last twenty minutes provided a ton of info.
1. The solders are perfect. None are missing or short. 2. The wiper needs that secondary ground that the dude before me ran. Otherwise nothing. 3. The nylon gear is toast. The wipers always die at the same place. That place has the torn up portion on the gear. So tomorrow I will buy the new motor assembly as I suspect they wont have just the gear. I really need to figure out the ground issue for this though. I know there is a non gorund under the dash. Tach speedo and volt gage all move when the blinker is on. Volt meter reads 12 max. Car always starts and lights are bright. I suspect there is a missing gournd under the dash. Who knows. The makeshift wiper gorund, might begrounding the whole damn dash. Currently the ignition is broke, and there are toggle swithes under the dash. "NOT MY DOING" there was a remote start at one time. Did they have factory remote starts in 94?
